Line Media Non-invasive tangible display

Material interation
This projects explored non-invasive tangible display in the form of line. Inspired by colored water flow in silicone tubes, it’s realized that water flow is a possible approach to emit information and this projected experimented the possibilties.
Why non-invasive display? Some employed medias, such as vibrations and suddent luminous light from telephone, alert users invasively. In that case, users might lose their attentions toward foreground activities.
Since Non-invasive medias already blend themselves in the environment, people would sense their subtle changes to obtain information subconsciously and stay focus on the thing they are doing.

Concept

Linemedia allows objects to emit information programmably. EXAMPLE OBJECT: Green Cylinder

Linemedia allows objects to change the color of its surface. EXAMPLE OBJECT: Blue Square

Experiment

Application

Connect Linemedias to various objects would visualize these objects' properties. For example, string Linemedia to a electronic device would visualize its power reminds and string it to a mug could display its water temperature.

Non- invasive display.

Visualize temperature

Visualize power

Development kit

This kit includes:
Bluetooth chip, Raspberry Pi or Arduino, highly intergrated pwm pumps, silicone tubes, construction structures, and accessories. Developer can employ this kit to build their own Linemedia for their use.
